ISTD: Feminine Authority in Type
Project type
Editorial Design & Typographic Research
Date
Fall 2025
Designed an editorial magazine exploring how women across history have confronted, reshaped, and reimagined systems of power. Combining political speeches, feminist theory, activism, and art, the publication examines how authority has traditionally been structured and how women have continuously disrupted those frameworks.
Drawing from figures including Julia Gillard, Audre Lorde, Donna Haraway, Guerrilla Girls, and Corita Kent, the project maps a lineage of resistance and reconstruction. Created in response to the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) brief, the magazine merges research, typography, and visual narrative into a speculative exploration of leadership, identity, and liberation, asking: What becomes possible when women define power rather than inherit its constraints?
